Dreamers from Baku

With a little effort and creativity of two UN Peace Corps volunteers, Azerbaijan recently got the best possible PR campaign on the eve of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.

From the moment it was uploaded on YouTube, the promotional video "Baku, state of mind - ESC 2012", was viewed over 10,000 times in just a few hours. In other words several million people saw the video offering a cover of the famous Alicia Keys song Empire State of Mind.

Baku, just like Azerbaijan is still an exotic destination for many Europeans who have to look for it on the map along the coast of the Caspian Sea - carefully tracing the vast space that a decade ago was occupied by the former Soviet Union.

It seems that the hosts of 2012 ESC and the foreigners currently residing in that country on the border of Asia and Europe were not sufficiently aware of that fact. Determined to offer some information - in a humorous and youthful prospective - of the uniqueness and beauty of Azerbaijan which is still quite exotic for many, two enterprising volunteers  - Brad Kessler and Tim McNaught, also known as "Caspian dreamers" produced a video entitled "Baku, state mind ", which prompts a growing number of volunteers and foreigners to visit the City of Wind on the eve of the song competition.

"Nobody could believe that our budget for the entire video was less than $ 50. Everything else was our hard work and good will" - Tim McNaught said at one point. "To be honest, we didn't dream it would become so popular in a relatively short period of time. The two of us did it wanting to present this beautiful country to as many young people around the world as possible."

"Baku, state of mind - ESC 2012" is regarded by many as the best promotion yet for the upcoming 2012 Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan with an almost equal number of YouTube visits as the duo Eli and Niki - this year's winners in Düsseldorf. Take a look!
