My Cousin From The Village
This is a story of us today, or to be more precise, of us in the year 2001, after all our individual and collective break downs which affected the notions of family, marriage, individual, society, old and young.
By skilfully avoiding generalisation and idealisation of country life, but also avoiding ridicule and mockery, this series is a warm depiction of two parallel storylines: one of the Malesević family and the other of their relative, a young military intelligence officer Vranić, who suddenly returns to his home village after a disappointment. These two storylines are connected by a thin family line, by pure chance or under a series of various unforeseen circumstances which these people grew accustomed to after everything that happened. Therefore, no situation surprises them or catches them off guard. Instead, they are tenacious, impervious, brimming with strength, spirit and humour, and they make their way through life that unfolds and continues, stronger than any ideology, war, misfortune or temptation.
