Who knew that the building would be bombarded and why, despite this information, it hadn't been evacuated? Why the RTS wasn't bombarded fifteen days earlier, as planned? Why neither one of the international court brought to justice NATO's officials for killing civilians, although the international organizations for human rights claimed that it was a war crime and that there wasn't any excuse for such an act.

Author: Svetlana Janicijevic
Director: Ivan Popovic
Year of production: 2019

Based on the testimonies of more than 30 interviewees, officers, servicemen and volunteers who were members of the 549th Motorized Brigade, we described the events about the battle fought in the region of Mount Pastrik. The reconstructions and dramatizations of the events were filmed on mountain ranges around Dimitrovgrad, Pirot and Nis and at the Pasuljanske Livade training ground.

The Battle of Pastrik was the second part of the land offensive that KLA terrorists tried to execute in cooperation with NATO forces and the standing Albanian army units from the direction of the Republic of Albania towards Kosovo and Metohija in 1999. When it became clear that the Kosare offensive did not yield results and that they could not break the defence of the Yugoslav army in that region, the KLA launched an attack on Mount Pastrik near Prizren. Like in Kosare, the goal was for the KLA forces from Albania to join the KLA forces in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. The Operation Arrow 2, as Albanian and NATO planners named it, began on May 26th and ended on June 14th, when the Yugoslav army retreated from the territory of Kosovo and Metohija after the signing of the Kumanovo Agreement. The enemy failed to achieve its goal and break the line of defence of the 549th Motorized Brigade. The Yugoslav army was undefeated at Pastrik. Moving stories of surviving soldiers of the 549th Motorized Brigade, the only unit exposed to carpet bombing by NATO's strategic aviation, were illustrated using authentic archive videos of the Associated Press. The videos were made on the territory of Albania. We also used the recordings of our own reporter, made after the bombing, as well as photos which the soldiers themselves had taken. The documentary follows the events chronologically, starting from the attack on the Gorozup outpost to the retreat of our army after the signing of the Kumanovo Agreement. Although the enemy tried to defeat our units by heavily attacking and bombing them, there were no substantial material losses. Twenty-six members of the 549th Motorized Brigade died on the front line, while the losses of KLA were almost 20 times greater.Genre: Documentary, History, 1999 War in Kosovo
Country of Production: Serbia
Produced by: Public Service Media - RTS and the Ministry of Defence
Original Title: War stories from Pastrik
Year of production: 2019
Duration part: 79' HD
Languages: Serbian, English, Russian

As such, masterpieces were often subject of property disputes, even on state level. Documentary series Art Thrillers presents the dark side of art world where beauty is marred by ugliness, where entrancement intertwines with grief and obvious blends into obscure.

Episodes 1, 2 and 3

Mimara: The Making of a Collector

In the course of WWII a significant part of Europe's cultural heritage was destroyed, displaced or plundered. Masterpieces were forged, becoming the subject of worst kind of malversations. The news that Italy had demanded some paintings from the Belgrade National Museum be confiscated caused quite a stir. These works allegedly became part of Goering's art collection under suspicious circumstances. Art collector Ante Topić Mimara redirected a number of valuable works to the National Museum in Belgrade, where they were filed as "reparation art". The authors of the program are trying to unravel the enigma surrounding this man who easily moved between social strata and was able to acquire major works of art in most remarkable ways.

Episodes 4 and 5

The Mysterious Mr. Šlomović

He disappeared somewhere in central Serbia during the Holocaust. He was barely twenty-seven. Erih Šlomović left behind the largest collection of impressionist and postimpressionist paintings in the Balkans. This collection is still the cause of disputes and court proceedings. Erih Šlomović, a young man who loved publicity, also left behind a lot of open questions. Who finked on him to the Germans, if at all? What happened with his collection? Did he buy those paintings, or did he inherit them? Perhaps he acquired them some other way? Who were the people he befriended during the five years he spent in Paris? When he returned from Paris in 1940, how was he received in Belgrade? He encountered a warm welcome in Zagreb, so why did he decide to join protests in Belgrade on March 27, 1941?

Episode 6

Woman in Gold

This episode of Art Thrillers tells a true story of Maria Altman, a seamstress from Los Angeles, who sued the Austrian state and won back the painting that Nazis had seized from her predecessors, the Viennese Jewish family Bloch-Bauer. Five contested paintings were part of the largest collection of Gustav Klimt's art in the world. They were national icons. Some even claimed that the portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer was to Austrians what Mona Lisa was to the French.

Episode 7

The Biggest Heist Ever

In this episode of Art Thrillers viewers get a chance to win 5 million dollars. All they have to do is help FBI solve the case of the biggest ever heist of artwork - the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum theft that occurred in Boston 27 years ago, on March 18, 1990. To this day no one knows where the paintings are, or who took them, or what the motive was.

Episode 8

Cyprus Mosaics

This episode of Art Thrillers entitled "Cyprus Mosaics" focuses on safeguarding endangered cultural heritage. When Turkish forces occupied Northern Cyprus in 1974, pillaging of the abandoned Greek Orthodox churches ensued. The trail of looted Cyprus mosaics leads us to Indianapolis, where an American artwork dealer is trying to hold on to them although she is aware of the fact that they are part of the priceless Cypriot cultural treasure.

Episode 9

Emil and the Panthers

The episode "Emil and the Panthers" tells the story of the theft of a famous Cezanne painting from a Swiss museum. The tale has recently reached its epilogue in a most spectacular way in Belgrade. The authors of this program discover interesting facts about the museum and the way the founder of this collection, Emil Georg Buehrle acquired the paintings in the course of World War II. Eventually, the question arises: Who is the worse criminal, Mr. Buehrle or the Panthers?

Episode 10

Home Cooking

In this sequel of Art Thrillers there is a bit of everything: we get to see the insiders, the outsiders, the fake Picasso and some real heroes... as the mystery unravels. "Home Cooking" is about local forgers and foreign buyers, Serbian thieves, police, and a hero that only a few people know about. In the midst of the civil war in Yugoslavia in 1991, a Serb saved the Croatian art collection from the Vukovar museum - and ended up on the Interpol wanted list.

Episodes 11 and 12

Kalemegdan Kaddish

This is a TV film in two parts that tells the story of the little-known "lost" generation of Belgrade jazz musicians, sports enthusiasts and young Jewish people, the majority of whom died in the Holocaust. Having seen an old photograph of the famous Mickey Jazz Orchestra, the first jazz band in Serbia and the Balkans, a Belgrade journalist decides to find out more about those talented musicians.

Genre: Art history

Country of production: Serbia

Year of production: 2017

Author: Miodrag Certic

Duration: 12 x 60' HD + 1 special x 60' HD

Quarter of a century has elapsed, and there are still no convictions for murders of Serbs in this region. Certain court proceedings were initiated rather recently, and there are procedures that ended with a non-guilty verdict due to lack of evidence. No prison sentences were pronounced. "Unpunished Crimes - Sufferings of Serbs in Middle Podrinje" is the first documentary picture in Serbia that covers the topic of sufferings of Serbs in Middle Podrinje.
A completely forgotten person, Damjan Brankovic (1866-1954), a businessman, representative of the German concern Krupa for Serbia and representative of Luger and Mauser, secret advisor of the Prime Minister, informed the President of the Serbian Government at the time, Nikola Pasic, in spring 1914, that the decision regarding Austrian attack on Serbia had already been made in Vienna and Berlin, that the ultimatum had already been prepared and that they were merely waiting for the time and occasion.

Pasic took that warning seriously, but could do nothing, because the parties were preparing for the upcoming elections. Five days before the assassination, the Assembly was dissolved and elections were called for August 1, 1914.
In the trial for the murder of Franz Ferdinand, held in Sarajevo from October 12 until October 28, 1914, one of the topics was the connection of the direct assassins: Gavrilo Princip, Nedeljko Cabrinovic and Trifko Grabez with the freemasons from Serbia. The literature was mostly silent on that fact. The Serbian masons were also accused of the assassination by Adolf Hitler.

The show "Masons and the Sarajevo Assassination" reflects on the events from the 19th and 20th centuries which influenced the awareness of the people and resistance to Austro-Hungarian occupation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (1878-1908) and annexation in 1908. For a long time, that crisis had threatened to turn into war.

Genre: History, Politics

Country of production: Serbia

Year of production: 2014

Broadcast channel: RTS

Duration: 60'

If a modern man that is used to pavement and new technologies was to get lost in the wilderness, chances that he would survive are slim.

But surviving in nature does not require extreme wilderness survival skills. You don't necessarily need to swallow live frogs and reptiles, race through canyons and jump off cliffs. Some basic skills will get you through, even if you have previously seen the wild only on TV. Don't forget that you can quite unexpectedly find yourself lost in the wild. Being outdoors, even if unexpected, doesn't necessarily imply danger if you know what you are supposed to do, how to protect yourself and avoid risky situations. That is why nun Atanasija Rasic from Rukumija Monastery has decided to write a handbook on how to live and survive in the wild. Considering that she had arrived to the monastery from the city, she herself had to learn a lot about the life in the countryside and she realized that many people today lack the practical skills needed to survive in the wild. It is also a good reading for those who want close contact with nature while on holiday or over weekends. Her handbook contains guidelines on how to identify, collect and use medicinal and edible herbs, mushrooms and forest fruits, how to prepare simple meals from these natural treasures, how to make dishes out of clay and wood, build a shelter, start a fire, purify water and a number of other useful advice.

Genre: People and Places

Country of production: Serbia

Year of production: 2014

Broadcast channel: RTS

Duration: 45'

Retouching is a series of 30-minute episodes which deal with the origin and meaning of colours, their impacts on life and our experience of the world around us, primarily in a psychological, linguistic and cultural sense.

As if under a magnifying glass, all of these colours combined bring us closer to details from our history and contemporary life, to a world in its natural colouring which we enjoy our entire lives but rarely reflect on, and even more rarely pause to admire it.

Genre: Science

Country of production: Serbia

Year of production: 2014

Broadcast channel: RTS

Authors: Jelena Radovic Jovanovic

Number of episodes: 6x30'
